Overseas Research Travel Grant Program for Upper-level Undergraduate and Graduate Students

《The application period for the first round starts from March 1st. Starting from the 2026 fiscal year, applications will be accepted through the application form. 》

This grant program supports upper-level undergraduate (4th year or above) and research at overseas institutions. A maximum of 110,000 yen is available to cover costs of round-trip airfare (economy class) to the international airport closest to the host institution as well as costs of accommodations.
For international conferences, a separate funding amount will be provided to cover student’s international conference paper presentation registration fees. A maximum of 55,000 yen will be available regardless of whether the conference takes place in Japan, overseas, and online.

About Application

Once in a fiscal year. The maximum is 110,000 yen.

Please submit all required documents via the form by one month before departure. In case of applying only registration fee, the deadline is set on the previous day of the conference.

Subsidies for miscellaneous costs related to research activities

These subsidies are intended to cover part of the costs incurred by doctoral program students and students of Leading Graduate Programs related to research activities, including photocopying documents necessary for research, academic society participation fees and annual membership fees, and fees for the submission of research papers.

About Application

Once a year. The maximum is 5,000yen.
