This study empirically investigates how economic policies related to national security and development aid affect economic performance and bilateral economic and social relationships, with particular attention to the role of economic and social networks.

本年度は特に以下の研究を行う。１．地政学的リスクが貿易・投資におよぼす影響を2国間の貿易・投資データによって検証する。地政学的リスクを定量化するために、テキスト分析を利用する。２．政治的な目的で実施される開発援助が援助国・非援助国の2国間関係におよぼす影響を、既存のミクロデータおよび独自に実施する社会実験によって検証する。

In the current fiscal year, the project will focus in particular on the following research topics. First, it will examine the impact of geopolitical risk on trade and investment using bilateral trade and investment data, with geopolitical risk quantified through text analysis. Second, it will analyze how development aid implemented for political purposes affects bilateral relations between donor and non-donor countries, using existing micro-level data as well as original social experiments conducted by the research team.
