本研究では、日本の典型的な中小企業の財務パネルデータ、主要株主のリストを用いて、まず以下の二点について、統計的な事実を確認する。
① 有形資産投資から無形資産投資へのシフトとその企業業績・成長への影響
② 中小企業の資本性資金の調達
なお、資本性資金の調達可能性と無形資産投資の相関関係を回帰分析により明らかにする。無形資産投資と資本性資金の関係については、理論モデルによる整理も試みる。相関関係があることが確認できた場合、金融市場構造の変化、税制や会計基準の変更など自然実験として利用可能な事象を活用して、因果関係の検証も試みる。
③ 近年相次いだ地域金融機関合併のうち、地域を代表する銀行がかかわる合併事例（例：長崎県）を取り上げて、申請者自身が大阪府のデータを用いて実施してきた構造推定による合併の厚生評価分析（科研費基盤研究C、課題番号：20K01779）を応用して、地域金融機関のコスト構造、資金供給行動の合併による変化と、ユーザーの便益の変化を計測したのち、銀行の合併後の融資先ポートフォリオの変化や、資本性資金供給の変化を統計的に検証する。

This study is an empirical study about small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Japan. We investigate the following points:
1. Shift from tangible investment to intangible investment and its impact on corporate performance and growth,
2. Equity finance by SMEs.Correlation between the availability of equity finance and intangible investments will be also investigated. We will provide an explanation for this correlation by constructing a theoretical model. We will also investigate the causality between them by exploiting a natural experiment, such as the change in financial, tax and accounting systems.
3. Effects of mergers of regional banks.
We focus on a region where dominant regional banks merged, such as Nagasaki Prefecture.　We apply an empirical method developed by the applicant in the past study on the bank mergers in Osaka Prefecture ( JSPS 20K01779), and estimate the change in cost efficiency and conducts and users’ surplus. We also investigate the change in loan portfolio after a merger and the availability of equity or mezzanine finance for SMEs.
