世界各地で起きている衝突や対立といった現代社会における諸事象の背景には、さまざまな言語、社会文化、思想、歴史が複雑に関係しており、単一言語・単一文化にとらわれず、複言語・複文化の観点から分析していくことが必要不可欠である。
本研究部会では、日本語とその他の外国語に関わる言語・文化・歴史を専門とする研究者が連携し、言語の背後にある文化的・歴史的文脈、また言語に含まれる感情表現やパラ言語的要素にも着目する。これにより、複言語・複文化の視点から、現代の政治・経済に関わる様々な事象や言説を総合的に分析することを目的とする。
さらに本研究部会では、こうした分析と並行して、言語学習による社会文化・思想・歴史の習得の在り方そのものにも着目し、研究成果を学生の批判的思考力および実践的な複言語・複文化能力の育成へと還元する。外国語を用いて政治・経済を深く学ぶCLIL型授業を想定した教材開発や授業実践の共有を行う。

The complex interplay of diverse languages, sociocultural contexts, ideologies and historical backgrounds shapes contemporary political, economic and social issues arising from conflicts and confrontations around the world. It is therefore essential to analyse these issues from a plurilingual and pluricultural perspective, rather than through the lens of a single language or culture.
This research group consists of scholars specialising in Japanese and other foreign languages, as well as their respective cultures and histories. In this research project, we will investigate the cultural and historical contexts underlying language use, as well as examining the emotional expressions and paralinguistic elements embedded in language. These approaches will enable us to conduct a comprehensive analysis of phenomena and discourses related to contemporary politics and economics from a plurilingual and pluricultural perspective.
Additionally, the research group will examine how sociocultural knowledge, ideas, and historical understanding are acquired through language learning. The outcomes of this research will be disseminated to foster students’ critical thinking skills and their practical plurilingual and pluricultural competencies. The project will also involve developing teaching materials and sharing classroom practices designed for CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning)-type lessons. CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) is an educational approach in which foreign languages are used as a medium for the in-depth study of subject areas such as politics and economics.
