Ayumi Ohashi Print Exhibition: “Murakami Radio”
Exhibition Overview
Since making her debut as the cover artist for men’s magazine Heibon Punch, Ayumi Ohashi has been noted for her work in women’s magazine anan and for fashion brand Pink House among many others, gaining a diverse and devoted following as an illustrator, designer, and writer.
“Murakami Radio” began in 2000 as a series of drypoint copperplate engravings by Ohashi created to accompany a year-long run of essays by Haruki Murakami in anan. Revived almost ten years later, the popular collaboration continued until 2012, and has also been published in three volumes:. Murakami Radio, Murakami Radio 2: Giant Turnip, Difficult Avocado, and Murakami Radio 3: The Salad-Loving Lion.
The Waseda International House of Literature recently acquired a complete set of “Murakami Radio” prints through a donation from the artist. To mark the occasion, this exhibition presents the two hundred and fourteen engravings, alongside additional pieces carefully selected from across Ohashi’s range of work. We invite you to visit and experience the simplicity and wonder of the prints and illustrations on display.
