Inside Academic Advising Office
Academic Advising Office (WPO), located on the first floor Building 7 Waseda Campus, is a comprehensive information center for students. It offers a variety of services, including assistance with PC problems and general IT usage, lost and found inquiries on Waseda Campus, and consultations regarding enrollment in university-wide open courses offered by Global Education Center Global Education Center (GEC). They also lend umbrellas on rainy days (while supplies last). Student staff are available at the counter to offer advice from a fellow student's perspective, so please feel free to stop by. Some services require advance reservations, so please check the WPO website before visiting.
Make use of the umbrella sharing service "i-kasa"!

Building 8 Waseda Campus is located at the entrance on the south side.
If you forget your umbrella and get caught in a sudden rainstorm, in addition to the WPO's rental umbrellas, the campus umbrella sharing service ``Aikasa'' is also convenient. This is a service that allows you to rent umbrellas for 140 yen (per umbrella) per day (24 hours), and there are many stands located not only on campus but also at stations along the JR Yamanote Line, Seibu Shinjuku Line, Seibu Ikebukuro Line, and Odakyu Line. Yes, you can return it to a location convenient for you.
Waseda University, which used to dispose of more than 3,000 plastic umbrellas a year, recommends the use of i-kasa as part of its environmental measures. To actually use it, you will need the "i-kasa" app. Please check the app and the i-kasa website for details.

Information environment such as wireless networks

Wireless LAN connection is available in many classrooms
It is possible to connect your own devices such as PCs, tablets, and smartphones to the campus network. Information on how to use the network can be found in "Network Usage Guide" on IT Service Navi. Wireless LAN is available in certain areas of the campus, so if you are in a classroom with an access point, you can use the network with the devices you bring. Additionally, by using a VPN (Virtual Private Network), it is possible to connect to Waseda University's network from off-campus, such as at home or on the go. This allows you to download software provided by Waseda University from outside the university and install it on your own PC.

Private booths and open classrooms for taking online classes
We have classrooms available for online classes that can be used when you have online classes before or after in-person classes. The classrooms available vary each semester. Please check the Waseda University student information website "Sapoeni" for details. The individual booth-type classrooms are partitioned on three sides, with a spacious desk separated as a personal space, and are recommended for classes that primarily involve speaking. Power outlets are provided at each seat. On Waseda Campus, individual booth-type open classrooms are located in Building 7 (3rd and 4th floors), Building 10 (3rd and 4th floors), and the basement of Building 22. Please check the respective faculty/graduate school websites for important points regarding the use of individual booths and the location of available classrooms.

What facilities can I use to deepen my learning?
Group learning facility (Learning Commons)
We have group study facilities available for individual study, group study, and Extracurricular activity. It can be used for a variety of purposes, such as practicing presentations and conducting seminars. They are located at each campus and library, so please check the IT Service Navi website. Please check each page for operating hours and usage methods, as they vary by location.
W Space, located on the first floor of Building 7 Waseda Campus, can be used for a wide range of purposes, from small groups to large groups. Illustrations at the entrance indicate whether "chatting," "bringing in drinks," "eating," and "using mobile phones" are permitted.
Students' Reading Rooms
At Waseda University, in addition to Central Library and campus libraries (S. Takata Memorial Research Library, Toyama Library, Science and Engineering Library, and Tokorozawa Library), there are Students' Reading Room in each Faculty, where students can borrow books and use materials for self-study. A copy machine is also available. As a general rule, a student ID card is required to use Students' Reading Room. Opening dates and times may change during class suspension periods, so please check the library website for details.

You can receive free, face-to-face or online tutoring for academic writing such as reports and essays written in Japanese or English (45 minutes per session). The guidance is provided by graduate student tutors who are trained in writing instruction. Center for Japanese Language (CJL)
Center for Japanese Language (CJL) at Waseda University has established "Waseda Nihongo Support" to support international students in learning Japanese so that they can study Japanese autonomously. In order to support international students' Japanese language learning and student life using Japanese, graduate student staff hold individual advising sessions (study consultations) and events related to Japanese language learning. At the event, you will have the opportunity to hear about career paths from senior international students and interact with Japanese students. Training Center

The training center located on the second basement floor of Toyama Campus Waseda University Student Center is equipped with the same training equipment as a regular sports club. We also have changing rooms and shower rooms (for a fee), so feel free to use them between classes or after school.
●Registration fee: 4,500 yen per year (Purchase a fee receipt from the fee collection machine on the second floor Waseda University Student Center, valid for one year after registration)
●Usage fee: Free
●How to register: Bring your health certificate (for a medical examination taken within the current fiscal year, including height, weight, blood pressure, urine test and internal medicine interview), one ID photo (4cm x 3cm), student ID and fee payment certificate to register at the training center.

Refresh Studio

Multipurpose sports gym inside Waseda Arena
The Refresh Studio in the multipurpose athletic field on the first basement floor of Waseda Arena Toyama Campus offers lesson programs taught by professional instructors, such as Pilates and yoga. Most of the lessons are easy to participate in, even for beginners.

Takaishi Memorial Swimming Pool

Indoor heated pool with 25m x 6 lanes
There is an indoor heated pool in Toyama Campus library building that can be used throughout the year. Please check the details on Athletic Center website before using.
● Registration fee: Free
●Usage fee: 300 yen per time (Purchase a fee collection certificate from the fee collection machine on the second floor Waseda University Student Center or inside Takaishi Memorial Swimming Pool)
●Registration method: Bring your student ID card (stamped with the stamp of having undergone a regular student health checkup [*]) and electrocardiogram test results (within 3 years) and register at Takaishi Memorial Swimming Pool.
[*] Proof of having undergone a health checkup within the fiscal year is required. If you have not received a regular medical checkup on campus, please bring a medical certificate from an external medical institution.

Medical Expense Benefit System

Student Affairs Section counter (photographed in January 2024). Dental treatment, which can often be costly, is also eligible for medical expenses reimbursement if covered by insurance.
Full-time students (including double degree students) of each faculty and graduate school, and research students of each graduate school (*) are required to pay their own medical expenses paid at medical institutions in Japan (30% of insurance medical treatment). Based on the application, a portion of the amount will be paid within the annual benefit limit of 60,000 yen.
(*) Excluding School of Human Sciences course students, sponsored non-degree students, non-degree/research students, students affiliated with Center for Japanese Language, exchange students, and special foreign trainees.
For each medical institution, the amount minus 1,000 yen per month from the out-of-pocket expense will be transferred to the account registered in the individual's name on MyWaseda. The deadline for submitting a benefit application is the 10th day of the third month (*) from the month following the month in which you received medical treatment. Please check Student Affairs Section website for details.
(*) For example, medical expenses incurred in April 2024 will be submitted by July 10, 2024.
There is also Liability Protection Program for Waseda Students (GAKUBAIHO) aimed at reducing the financial burden of injuries sustained in unexpected accidents during educational and research activities.
The Student Participation and Job Center creates a place for students to grow
The Student Participation and Job Center (SJC), established within the Student Affairs Division, has a program that incorporates student voices and suggestions, with a focus on on-campus "Student Jobs," where students can work efficiently to fill the vacant slots.・We create various "places for growth" for students through events and other activities.
