Volunteer for cross-cultural adventures event at After-school center

Attention! Calling students interested in cultural exchange with children!
WAVOC is thrilled to announce the “Cross-cultural Adventures Event at After-school center”, taking place on July 1st (Saturday) at the Waseda Minamicho After -school center.
Join us for a day of introducing foreign cultures and traditions to children through exciting activities such as overseas games and play. Our goal is to foster a deeper understanding of different cultures among children, who may have limited opportunities to directly experience international cultures.
This event not only provides children with a valuable chance to appreciate diversity but also allows volunteer students to gain profound insights into both your own culture and Japanese cultures from a child’s unique perspective.
We are currently seeking volunteers who are either international students with roots in foreign countries or Waseda students with experience living abroad. As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in creating a memorable and educational experience.

【Volunteer Details】
The event is scheduled for one hour, with the first 30 minutes dedicated to introducing foreign cultures by volunteer students. The content should include below.
- Introduction to the country (location and brief history)
- Food customs and traditional dishes
- Three aspects of the culture different from Japan.
Volunteers will create slides summarizing these points and use a projector to present a brief introduction of around 5 minutes per person.
The second half of the event will involve playing games and engaging in activities from the countries introduced earlier. We kindly request volunteers to provide a simple explanation of the rules.
We are planning to have a 30-minute meeting in advance about volunteering at the event. The schedule of the meeting will be informed at a later date.

【Eligibility】 Waseda students with roots in foreign countries or with experience living abroad. *Those who can give simple explanations in Japanese when communicating with children*

『異文化探検〜早稲田の学生と外国文化を体験しよう！〜』
自分と関わりがある、滞在していた国の文化を子どもたちに紹介し、楽しく異文化交流をしてみませんか？
WAVOCでは、7/1（土）に早稲田南町児童館にて、外国の文化や食習慣を子どもたちに紹介し、海外のゲームや遊びなどのアクティビティを通して異文化交流を行う、「異文化探検〜早稲田の多様な学生と外国文化を体験しよう！〜」を開催します。本イベントは、海外の文化に直接触れる機会が少ない中で、子供たちの異文化理解を深めることを目指しています。
子どもたちがその多様性を理解する機会として価値あるものになると同時に、ボランティアの学生にとっても、日本の文化や習慣について子どもならではの視点から、お互いの文化について深い洞察を得ることができます。
開催にあたり、外国にルーツを持つ留学生、または海外に滞在経験のある早大生を、本イベントのボランティアとして募集します。
下記にボランティアの詳細や、当日のスケジュールについて記載しますので、下の応募フォームからぜひご応募お待ちしております。
【ボランティア内容】
イベントは1時間を予定しており、前半30分はボランティア学生がルーツを持つ、または滞在経験のある国について、以下の内容を含めて紹介をしていただきます。
- その国の紹介 (場所や簡単な歴史など)
- 食習慣や伝統料理
- 日本とは異なる文化
以上の３つをスライドにまとめ、プロジェクターを使用して1人あたり5分ほどで日本語または英語と日本語を交えて簡単に紹介していただきます。
後半30分は、前半に紹介した国のゲームや遊びを子どもたちと一緒に行いますので、簡単なルール説明をお願いします。
※イベントで行うボランティア内容について、事前に30分ほど打ち合わせを予定しております。日程については後日ご連絡いたします。
