The greatest attraction of the SI Programs is being able to meet so many people. On Faculty Visits, we can listen to professors talking about their areas of expertise regardless of our own subjects. The SI Programs broaden our perception by enabling us to learn about fields that we would never normally study at our own undergraduate school.
Self Motivation and Global Communication helps me in various ways, such as in developing creative problem-solving skills and increasing my communication skills overseas, and I take part in group work as well. Frequent practice in cooperating with other students to solve a shared problem will prove very useful when I go into the workforce. More than that, participating in the programs gives me valuable opportunities to talk with very individualistic students from the dormitory. I get a sense of fulfillment from exchanging opinions with people of completely different origin and upbringing, bouncing ideas off one another, and gaining new perspectives and knowledge.
