Applicants for WISH

We recommend that applicants prepare their essay in advance before starting the application. Examples of essay topics from previous application cycles are listed below.

  • Please describe what you accomplished as a member of a group or a team in school activity, social activity, field work, sports activity..etc.. and what was your role as a member in that group or team? (Limit: 250 words)
  • Please describe what kind of person you would like to be after you graduate from the university. (Limit: 250 words)
  • Please describe your willingness to participate in SI programs. Also, how do you plan to contribute to creating a atomosphere of the dormitory where you will learn together. Please refer to the brochure, “Waseda University Student Dormitories” or website. (Limit: 250 words)

STEP 4: Application FormOnline application form is only available during the application period.

  • Applicants may submit only ONE application for a Waseda University-operated dormitory (WISH), or affiliated dormitories after being admitted to Waseda University.
  • Please complete all required fields in the application form.
  • After submitting the application form, you will receive an automatic confirmation email containing your application number. Please make a note of this number, as it will be required for any future inquiries.
  • The application form may automatically expire after a certain period of time. To avoid losing your work, we strongly recommend drafting your essay in advance using Microsoft Word or another text editor and copying it into the application form when ready.
  • In case you cannot locate the application form, please reload to refresh the site. To reload, press the “Ctrl” key and the “F5” key simultaneously.
  • Affiliated dormitories are student dormitories managed and operated by the companies or organizations with which Waseda University has concluded an agreement. In the case of affiliated dormitories, the contract that defines the rights and obligations of the resident will be concluded between the resident and the dormitory management company, etc. Waseda University does not have the authority to be the subject of this occupancy agreement and does not act on behalf of the resident. Please carefully review the terms and conditions of the agreement.
    The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has issued a reminder regarding the lowering of the age of majority (18 y.o.).

STEP 5: Result Announcement

Applicants for WISH

  • The result will be sent to the e-mail address which you use in the application.

Affiliated Dormitories

  • The result of room availability may be announced earlier than the above schedule if you choose the affiliated dormitory as your first choice. The results will be announced by the dormitory management company.
  • If you apply for WISH as your first choice and the affiliated dormitory as your second or lower choice, it may take up to 7 business days after the above date for the announcement of the room assignment results for the second or lower choice.
