Malaysia Training (March, 2015)
Mission “Collect customer’s voice in Malaysia!”

WISH award students were assigned the mission of conducting local customer’s research in Malaysia. The locale was Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.Students had questionnaires and analyzed customer needs at a shopping plaza. It will be interesting to see how residents found out the consumer aspect.

A very fulfilling 5 days , where helped to enrich our future studies and academic potential.

For our overseas training this year, we were given a mission to collect voices from the local citizens of Malaysia, to investigate the reality of shopping malls overseas. Not knowing the mission at first, I felt restless. But once the training had started, all of it changed to excitement and it was just a blink of an eye until the final day had come.
From transportation condition to street food vendors, we were able to experience many South East Asian cultures non-existent in Japan, and being born and brought up in Singapore, I was able to re-acknowledge these cultural differences.
Besides the interviews and presentations that we’ve done, the self-reflection “advice scramble” method used on the last day helped to reflect upon our individual strengths and weaknesses, and we learnt the aspects of ourselves which we needed to improve on. Pointing out pros and cons of each other isn’t something we easily come across everyday, and I felt this was a very valuable opportunity.
Overall these 5 days spent training at Malaysia together was a very fulfilling period of time, where we not only deepened our bond and friendship even more than our usual dorm life, but also helped to enrich our future studies and academic potential. With the experience gained from this training, and as residence of WISH, we reaffirmed the importance of cooperative support and understanding, to enhance our internationality, and to strengthen our bonds with students coming to Waseda from all over the world.
