About the Dormitory Desk

The Benefits of Living in the Student Dormitories

The following five features and attractions are unique to the student dormitory.

In a survey conducted at the time of leaving the dormitory, dormitory students expressed high satisfaction with the dormitory experiences, including making good friends, becoming more independent, and enjoying the lively community activities in the dormitory.

  1. Safety
・Janitors control access to the dormitories and patrol them to ensure the safety of residents. Note that janitor services vary depending on the dormitory.
・For even greater peace of mind, each dormitory foundation gives dormitory staff regular training in security, emergency preparedness, and other safety matters.
  2. Convenience
・The dormitories are conveniently located close to the campus.
・Thanks to Waseda‘s extensive dormitory portfolio, we can offer extra amenities and services for resident students, including social spaces, learning spaces, and mailroom services.
  3. Cost
・In most dormitories, essential furniture and appliances are already fitted in private rooms and common areas.
    ・Waseda dormitories charge reduced rent.
  4. Community
・Being part of a community of students is perhaps the greatest benefit of living in student accommodation, and something you would never experience by living alone. Forming friendships with fellow students from different disciplines and academic years will broaden your perspectives and aid your personal growth.
・Resident assistants are available primarily in Waseda dormitories and in Waseda International dormitories (WIDs: affiliated dormitories exclusive to Waseda students). Resident assistants act as mentors to new students.
  5. International environment
・Waseda dormitories and WIDs accommodate students from around the world, creating numerous opportunities to form international and intercultural friendships.
