When I left my hometown and moved-into a dormitory with fear in my heart, RAs welcomed me with a big smile at the dormitory entrance door. I strongly remember the feeling of relieved that I was not alone. They considered school matters such as class registrations, my physical condition, and even my future career seriously. I was glad to meet them who could talk everything over with me, and that experience made me to think I want to become RA to ease residents’ anxiety by myself.
Living in International dormitory is like “domestic studying abroad”. Language and cultural barriers are removed naturally by communicating with residents who have different backgrounds through attending dormitory events and spending daily life.
WISH is truly a big family greeting each other such as “Welcome home.”, or “Are you eating well?” Every RAs of course, including me, would love to support residents anywhere and anytime. We share the feelings of happiness and sadness with being by resident’s side and make the happiness double and make sadness half. My goal is that residents desire me as “I would like to be like her!” and be the one whom residents could depend on like a big sister or mother. To achieve my goal, I will improve myself and grow up as RA.
