Consolidating and expanding our global research network, we will promote the interdisciplinary and creative studies on each European nation-state, the European Union (EU), European integration, and Europe-Japan relations. For example, we will participate in a variety of international joint research projects, funded by the EU, such as Horizon 2020. Waseda University has recently joined in Council for European Studies (CES), as one of the world-wide academic consortium member institutions and as the only Japanese institution as of 27th February 2015. We aim for a proactive utilization of CES.
EUIJ Waseda commenced operations in April, 2009 as the third EUIJ, and as the first institute operated by a single university in Japan. EUIJ Waseda promotes academic cooperation and educational exchange between the EU and Japan.
The Organization for Regional and Inter-regional Studies is hosting a Jean Monnet Chair award, with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, to Professor Paul Bacon, from the Faculty of International Research and Education. The project will run from 2018-2021, and promotes curriculum development and academic research on European Union Studies at Waseda.
