Research
Powertrain System
Automobiles are indispensable to human life. In recent years, various powertrain systems have been developed and put into practical use, enabling users to choose not only internal combustion engine vehicles but also hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles. Even under such circumstances, there is an increasing demand for further reductions in the environmental impact caused by automobiles. Our laboratory is conducting research aimed at further reducing the fuel consumption and exhaust emissions of powertrain systems. Utilizing both experimental and numerical simulation techniques, we are undertaking research into elucidating the phenomena of each component (engine, catalyst, battery, motor, etc.), modelling these components, developing optimal powertrain systems for each destination, and developing novel powertrain control methodologies.
