F-Course Program Details
The F-Course is a special master’s program for students with excellent academic records who have studied for one year or more at one of IPS’s overseas partner institutions.
If students meet all graduation requirements and maintain strong academic performance after studying at IPS for one and a half years, they may obtain a Master of Engineering degree from Waseda University.
The application procedure for the F-Course differs from that of the standard two-year master’s program.
<Study Conditions at IPS>
・F-Course students are normally assigned to a research laboratory of an IPS faculty member within one week after enrollment, based on the pre-matching process.
・Up to 10 credits earned at an overseas graduate school may be transferred to the IPS program.
<Completion Requirements>
To complete the F-Course, students must obtain 30 or more credits and complete a master’s thesis, including:
・Lectures and laboratory work: 18 or more credits (including up to 10 transferred credits; up to 6 may be fundamental subjects)
・Specialized subjects: 2 or more credits
・Exercises: 8 or more credits
・Master’s thesis: completion and successful defense
*F-Course students cannot take IPS subjects that are the same as or similar to courses already taken at their overseas graduate school.
<Degree and Study Period>
Students who fulfill all requirements within 1.5 years will be awarded the Master of Engineering degree from Waseda University.
If the requirements are not completed within this period, students must continue their studies until completion (up to a maximum of four years).
<Fees>
F-Course students pay the same screening fee, admission fee, tuition, and other fees as students in the standard two-year master’s program.
