Waseda IPS Selected for the FY2025 Sakura Science Program— Welcoming Students from National Taipei University of Technology under the Theme of the Semiconductor Supply Chain —

The Graduate School of Information, Production and Systems, Waseda University (hereinafter referred to as Waseda IPS), applied for the FY2025 Sakura Science Program (3rd Call for Proposals) implemented by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), and its exchange plan entitled “Learning the Semiconductor Supply Chain” has been selected.
About the Sakura Science Program
The Sakura Science Program is a national initiative implemented by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) with the aim of inviting outstanding students and young researchers from overseas who are expected to play active roles in the fields of science and technology, and promoting exchange activities that leverage the unique strengths of host institutions in Japan.
Through the provision of special lectures by leading researchers in each field and opportunities to visit companies with world-class technologies, the program seeks to promote exchange among educational and research institutions and contribute to the development of science and technology in Japan and around the world.

Sakura Science Exchange Program
Overview of the Exchange Program
Under this program, students from National Taipei University of Technology (Taiwan) will be invited to Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, from January 25 to January 30, 2026.
At National Taipei University of Technology, a bachelor’s program themed “Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes and Equipment” began in September 2025, and this program includes a special class that accepts 30 Japanese exchange students.
Against this background, Waseda IPS has planned an exchange program targeting students in the field of electronic engineering at National Taipei University of Technology. The program will center on visits to leading Japanese companies in the areas of design, manufacturing, and product testing, which together constitute the semiconductor supply chain, as well as lectures delivered by seven faculty members of Waseda IPS.
Program Content
This exchange program will consist of the following core components:

Specialized lectures by seven faculty members affiliated with Waseda IPS

Opportunities for interpersonal exchange among students and faculty through direct exposure to Japan’s research, industrial, and educational environments
Through this program, participating students will gain an understanding of the structure and strengths of Japan’s semiconductor industry, while also being provided with opportunities to deepen exchanges with researchers, educators, and industry professionals.
