Waseda University Team Wins Business Award at Student Competition “BioInnoSense 2025” on Biosensors!

Award Announcement

At BioInnoSense 2025, Japan’s first student competition focused on biosensors and contested by four universities, the Waseda University team won the Business Award.

This award is given to the team with the most outstanding business idea, evaluated for its potential to create significant social impact and inspiration.

The Waseda team was recognized for their innovative business plan on magnetic contact lenses with eye-tracking functionality. Their proposal was highly evaluated not only for its clear differentiation from competing concepts, but also for its strong potential to capture a rapidly growing market, leading to their award-winning achievement.

About BioInnoSense

BioInnoSense is a student competition organized and managed by an executive committee consisting of Waseda University’s Miyake Laboratory, The University of Tokyo’s Sakata Laboratory, Tokyo University of Science’s Hayamizu Laboratory, Shibaura Institute of Technology’s Tohma Laboratory, and Macnica, Inc.

The name BioInnoSense is a coined word combining bio-sensing and innovation.
Biosensors are technologies that sense biological reactions, with promising applications in a wide range of fields, including future medical care, healthcare, environmental monitoring, and food safety.

This competition aims to create world-changing innovations by combining the research capabilities of universities with the practical implementation expertise of industry partners.
