Welcome to Tsubokawa Lab!
Name: MA Jiangtao
Grade & Course: 2nd Year, Master’s course
Laboratory Focus
Tsubokawa Laboratory is dedicated to advancing the field of optical fiber systems and metasurfaces. Our research focuses on several key areas:
Optical Fiber Systems: We explore innovative applications of optical fibers in communication and sensing. This includes developing novel waveguide structures, such as photonic textiles, and analyzing sub-wavelength nanowires and micro-scale waveguides to uncover unique optical phenomena. Additionally, we work on enhancing the reliability of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) networks by researching advanced network architectures and transmission technologies.
Metasurfaces and Inverse Design: Our lab investigates the design and application of metasurfaces—engineered surfaces that manipulate electromagnetic waves. We employ inverse design methodologies to create metasurfaces with tailored functionalities, enabling applications in beam steering, holography, and optical computing.
Under the guidance of Professor Tsubokawa, students have the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research that bridges fundamental science and practical applications.
Research Life
Our laboratory fosters a collaborative and dynamic research environment. We hold weekly seminars where members present their progress, share challenges, and discuss the latest developments in our field. These sessions encourage critical thinking and provide a platform for constructive feedback.
Professor Tsubokawa takes an active role in each student’s research journey, providing guidance and experimental insights while fostering independence. This balance ensures that students develop both technical expertise and the ability to conduct autonomous research.
Other Activities
Beyond research, our lab values camaraderie and work-life balance. We regularly organize social events, such as group dinners and recreational activities, to strengthen team bonds and create a supportive community.
If you are passionate about optical technologies and eager to contribute to innovative research, consider joining Tsubokawa Laboratory. The skills and experiences you gain here will be invaluable in your future endeavors. We look forward to welcoming you to our team!
