Research topics

Manufacturing, as a cornerstone of social development, has a huge demand for both employment and academic research. And what we research in our lab is technology that can be applied to most manufacturing industries, that is, structural optimization. In short, structural optimization is in search of the optimal size, shape, and topology of a structure. From lightweight of aircraft in the aerospace field to shape design of devices in the medical field, numerous research problems in the manufacturing industry rely on structural optimization techniques.

Based on this background, our laboratory focuses on the keyword “optimal design” and combines it with “artificial intelligence technology” to conduct research on a variety of manufacturing-related topics.

Join us, whether you want to find employment as a product design engineer for the manufacturing industry or want to become a researcher able to contribute significantly to society, Yamasaki laboratory is the ideal choice for you.

Atmosphere and activities of Yamasaki laboratory

Yamasaki laboratory will have a seminar once a week, and Prof. Yamasaki will provide detailed guidance and research assistance to each student. In addition, Prof. Yamasaki has excellent coding skills, and the code of all the research topics in the lab relies on projects completed by Prof. Yamasaki. Whether applying for scholarships or academic guidance, Prof. Yamasaki always tries his best to help every student. So, I think he is a very conscientious, friendly, and capable professor.

The students in the lab also get along very well with each other, organizing weekly dinners or going out to play billiards or mahjong together. In addition, the students participat in a wide range of board games such as Chinese chess and various card games.
