Ohsawa Laboratory

Welcome to Ohsawa Laboratory

LIU, Haoyan 4th year of Doctral program

In the OHSAWA lab, researchers are deeply interested in the emerging memory system and the different aspects that it entails. With the need for high-density and high-performance memory, the lab is exploring various types of emerging memories, such as STT-MRAM, and ReRAM. Some of the students in the lab are working on the design of emerging memory cells, developing their read/write modes, and creating external circuits. The lab is also working on addressing the limitations of the traditional von Neumann architecture, which separates memory and processing and causes a bottleneck in terms of data movement and energy consumption. To overcome this, the lab is designing hardware accelerators for neural networks, which can help in improving computational efficiency.

Apart from research activities, the lab places significant importance on creating a positive and harmonious environment for its students. Weekly laboratory meetings provide a platform for students to share their work and ask questions, while individual discussions with Professor Ohsawa help in providing guidance and direction. Professor Ohsawa is always approachable and willing to help students in solving any problems that they might encounter during their research. Additionally, the lab frequently organizes social events like dinners, sports, outings, and welcome parties, which help in creating a harmonious and friendly atmosphere.

In summary, the OHSAWA lab is a research group focused on emerging memory systems, and its members are exploring different aspects of it, including device modeling, memory, and computing within memory. The lab is committed to providing an environment for its students and fosters a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
