Watanabe Laboratory is also called ASIC-DA Laboratory, which aims at a system with high-performance, high-efficiency, high quality and high-reliability to meet the growing requirements of integrated system. The main research theme in our laboratory is EDA and Advanced IC Design Architecture, which consists of the following research fields.
1) ASIC Design Automation Method
2) Physical Design Automation Algorithm
3) Novel IC Architecture and Design Methodology (3D IC or NoC)
4) Advanced Processor Architecture
Watanabe laboratory is a wonderful place to learn the LSI design automation technology. Professor Watanabe used to work in the field of LSI Design Automation for many years in Research and Development Center of TOSHIBA Corp,. Professor’s rich research experience over the years provide valuable guidance to our research.
Each week, we hold several group seminars to share the latest ideas and research progress with each other. In addition, there is a joint seminar with Kimura and Yoshimura Laboratories, in which each student will receive guidance from the three professors and have an opportunity to discuss with other laboratory students. Under the persistent guidance and advice of professor, everyone in our laboratory has done their best and raised higher research results. In recently years, our laboratory has published many papers in representative academic societies and specialized journals in various domestic and overseas fields.
As of 2017, there are three doctoral students and 15 master students in our laboratory. We come from different places and have different cultural backgrounds, but we help each other and work together for common goals. The laboratory is always vibrant, comfortable and has a pleasant atmosphere. Every year, we gather to celebrate the New Year, see cherry blossoms in the spring, and watch fireworks in the summer. By participating in such fun activities, we not only understand Japanese culture but also deepen mutual friendship.
