Welcome to Lee Lab, the intelligent control research lab

Akira Sakanishi, 2nd year of the Master’s program

Lee Lab performs research on classical control theory and contemporary control theory, and on intelligence control systems that integrate these approaches with artificial intelligence, such as neural networks and gene algorithms, fusion theory, learning theory, and other theoretical approaches.

Our current main areas of research include:
・Factory exhaust heat/geothermal ultra-compact binary power plant development and PID design
・Robot car and drone optimal path design
・Panel fusion control using sliding mode control and CNN PID
・Falling-asleep-at-the-wheel warning systems using the human body and vehicle measurements

Our main development tools are MATLAB, C/C++, JAVA, and PYTHON.

At the Lab’s twice weekly seminars members present research papers prepared in Japan and overseas and do roundtable discussions on foreign technical literature. For the presentation of foreign and Japanese research papers, members select papers from the distant past to the most recent related to their research and do a presentation on the content. At the roundtable discussion on foreign technical literature, members take up a classic text as a way to review fundamental knowledge or take turns discussing a text addressing a recent topic of interest. For both of these activities, the presenter is rotated to provide everyone an opportunity not only to talk about their own research but to broaden their knowledge and perspective.

In addition, at the end of every month the Lab holds a research progress report session. At these sessions, Professor Lee and students exchange opinions, locate and find solutions to problems, and even occasionally plant the seeds for new ideas, thus making them invaluable opportunities for advancing research. Professor Lee also makes time for one-on-one consultations with students and gives useful advice and guidance regarding the problems and questions that come up during research. Besides research, the Lab hosts the customary new student and graduation parties, New Year gatherings, and the occasional hike up Mount Kuju.

We invite anyone interested in knowing more about Lee Lab or interested in becoming a member to visit the Lab.
