Around 21:26 on April 14th 2016, there was the first earthquake of magnitude 6.5 in Kumamoto, Kyushu. Also, from the midnight and early morning on April 16th 2016, massive shocks up to the maximum magnitude 7.3 struck to Kumamoto and a part of Oita several times.
Aftershocks are still being measured all around Kyushu. However, no serious damage has been reported in Kitakyushu City where IPS Waseda University is located, and it has been confirmed that IPS students, professors, and crews are all fine. Plus, all the buildings and facilities, etc have no damage so far.
IPS is very much sorry to hear such a tragedy, and dearly hopes that every single residence and their families are fine in and all around the region.
Kindest regards,
Graduate School of Information, Production and Systems, Waseda University
