Test your ability in Kimura Laboratory. Members in Kimura Laboratory are a group of hard-working people who are focusing on the main topic of High Level Verification. There is a growing tendency that VLSI technology is applied in several different areas more and more widely, with rapid development of semiconductor technology, to solve increasing and complicated problems. However, for any sophisticated circuits, design, optimization and verification are of necessity. Concretely, main research topics in our laboratory are following:
- 3D LSI Architecture and Its Design Automation
- Power Optimization of LSI
- Application of Next Generation Non-volatile Devices
- Design and Verification of Video Encoders.
Superior devices have been equipped in Kimura Laboratory for everyone’s convenience of research. Each student has a PC for presentation and another PC for research. Additionally, there are servers with high performance in our laboratory on which we have installed several CAD tools such as Synopsys VCS, Design Compiler and Astro. In recent years, Students in Kimura Laboratory published papers in many conferences at home and aboard. These achievements result from their own efforts but also Prof. Kimura’s instructions.
Dear prof. Kimura is a kind gentleman who takes care of anybody in our Laboratory all the time. Prof. Kimura gives us so much help which includes not only profound knowledge but also modest and rigorous virtues. He listens to our presentation at the seminar closely and carefully. After consideration, professor discusses ambiguity with students openly and gives useful advices for students’ weakness humorously. Thus, we can surely make progress with ease, not stress. Except for research, Prof. Kimura also offers a few courses, such as Digital Circuit, Design for testability, System LSI Architecture and so on. In his classes, professor is so patient that students can ask questions anytime during classes. Also, Prof. Kimura is adept in inspiring students with their own ideas, which increases our abilities a lot.
Current 20 members in Kimura Laboratory come from all over the world. Some of them are from China’s top-level universities such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Southeast University. Though there exists culture diversity, we get along well with each other and forge a lasting friendship. Students get together to share creative thinking and face challenges in our research processes. We all pursue for excellence to the best of our abilities.
