We are pleased to announce the 2026 IPSA RC31 Political Philosophy Methodology Workshop, to be held at Waseda University in Tokyo on 29–30 October 2026.

We invite abstract submissions from current and recent graduate students (within 3 years of receiving their PhD) in political philosophy and political theory. Submissions on any topic are welcome, but we are especially interested in papers that explore methodological issues in the discipline, including, though not limited to, the analytic-Continental divide, the moralism-realism debate, experimental political theory, mentalism and normative behaviourism, critical, postcolonial and decolonial methodologiesand the comparative turn in the study of political thought.

Each speaker will present for 1520 minutes, followed by a response from a discussant and a Q&A. Speakers are expected to participate fully in both days of the conference and contribute actively to discussions of fellow participants’ work.

The event will feature two keynote lectures by Professors Humeira Iqtidar (King’s College London) and Jonathan Floyd (Bristol), and remarks by the IPSA President Yuko Kasuya (Waseda)

No registration fees are required. Participants from outside Tokyo will be eligible for reimbursement of accommodation expenses. Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.

Please submit your 300-word abstract by 15 July 2026
 via this form.
