In consideration of those who are thinking of applying to our graduate school from all over the world, we have decided to introduce our school through this website instead of holding in-person information sessions. Thank you for your understanding.
On this website, you can find an overview of the Graduate School of Political Science (GSPS), as well as detailed information about research and education at the GSPS, including the subfields of political science, methodology and graduate student training that we offer.
You may also be interested in the career paths followed by recent graduates of the masters and doctoral programs of the GSPS.
On our news page, we often post information about research meetings and events, some of which can be attended by people outside of Waseda University.
You will find answers to many frequently answered questions as well.
Our flyer is available here.
Two GSPS PhD students and a professor share a bit about the program and their research in a #whywaseda Instagram reel.
If you are interested in applying to our graduate programs, please familiarize yourself with our admissions process, which we refer to as an entrance examination.
Please note that we have three types of admissions: (1) general admissions for the master’s program, (2) internal admissions by recommendation for the master’s program, which is open only to undergraduate students of Waseda University, and (3) general admissions for the doctoral program. So, be sure to consult the appropriate Application Guidelines for further details, which you can download here.
You should also learn more about our faculty members, as you will need to indicate your preference for advisor as part of your application. You may read our faculty profiles and refer to the researchmap. Please note that some faculty members may be on sabbatical leave for research purposes. Therefore, it is not always possible to receive guidance from the faculty members of your choice at the time of enrollment you are considering, so please make sure to check the admissions guidelines to see which faculty members are actually available to serve as advisors.
Information about the tuition fees is available from here.
Although there is no tuition reduction or exemption system, Waseda University offers several scholarship programs for privately financed international students.
Nominees for Waseda University’s internal scholarships as well as external scholarships that require University recommendation are selected from a list of international students who have completed scholarship registration. For further information about scholarships, including those available to international students, please visit the following websites for details:

For information about our faculty members, please refer to the Graduate School of Political Science Faculty Profiles. We do not provide e-mail addresses for individual members of our faculty. While it is not necessary to contact potential advisors in advance, you may do so directly by clicking on the J-GLOBAL ID link on the individual researcher’s page in Researchmap.
