In late February to early March 2024, Professor Dvorak had the privilege of participating in the Republic of the Marshall Islands Nuclear Victims Remembrance Week in Majuro. As well as attending various local ceremonies, he served as a collaborator and advisor alongside the Jo Jikum Climate/Nuclear Awareness Youth nonprofit and a group of Marshallese and international artists on a special exhibit. As part of this collective, he had previously journeyed to Bikini Atoll in 2023, and together, they curated a contemporary art exhibit that reflected on the persistent legacy of nuclear testing in Oceania and its ties to the climate change crisis. Professor Dvorak also had the opportunity to share his own art and research with the local community and visiting delegations, including the nation’s president and other dignitaries, contributing to a broader understanding of these intertwined global challenges.
