Waseda University’s Aizu Museum is hosting an exhibition on the art of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and texts from the Obaku school of Zen Buddhism. The exhibition features texts from prominent Obaku figures such as Ingen Ryuki and Mokuan Shoto, and paintings and art crafts created during China’s Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Ingen Ryuki is said to have introduced a new wave of Chinese culture to Japan in the beginning of the Edo period. Visitors of the exhibition learn about the sentiments of this period while viewing the numerous, precious pieces on display.
The exhibition is being held in the Tomioka Shigenori Exhibition Room on the 1st floor of the Aizu Museum and will be on display until April 18. Admission is free of charge and the museum is open on Monday-Saturday from 10:00-17:00.
