Waseda confers honorary doctorate to Timor-Leste’s former President Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão

Waseda University welcomed the first President and former Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, and conferred the Honorary Doctor of Laws for his unfailing leadership and fortitude which have brought Timor-Leste to independence in 2002. Those affiliated with Timor-Leste, honorary guests, Waseda University students, faculty, and staff attended the award ceremony held at Okuma Auditorium on October 6. Now serving as the Minister of Planning and Strategic Investment, Minister Gusmão delivered a special lecture following the ceremony.
