Waseda Weekly publishes a variety of articles, including "Focus," which features various systems and facilities on campus, events, and points to note; "People," which introduces students who are active both on and off campus; and articles about classes, Professor, Alumnus and student club who are active in various fields, and even topics ranging from studying abroad to everyday concerns.
We have also introduced a Waseda University student reader monitor system, where articles are evaluated every week. Each article is rated from 1 to 5 stars, and we receive feedback, both good and bad, which we use to create better articles. This time, we will introduce the articles published between October 4th and 25th, 2024, in order of the highest ratings from the reader monitors, along with the actual comments they received!
1. [Special Issue] Waseda University Students' Lunchtime Friend! 10 Freshly Made Bento Shops Wasemeshi Bento Encyclopedia (Published October 4, 2024)
All the bentos looked so delicious that I regretted reading this article after lunch! It was very helpful and I appreciated the fact that it not only included photos of the entire bento, but also a map of the store and the prices of the bentos in particular. I thought it was good to learn about the menu and atmosphere of a store I know of but have never been to. (3rd year, School of Education)
There are many different kinds of Wasemeshi. new students who have just enrolled will likely be lining up at the kinds of Wasemeshi restaurants that most people imagine. However, being a Waseda student means being overwhelmed with the assignments that pile up. Waseda students who don't have the time for that discover the appeal of Wasemeshi bento, which they can devour with a laptop in hand. If you don't want to compromise on either your time or your food, then this article is for you. (3rd year, School of Fundamental Science and Engineering)
2. [Focus] Great people who visited Waseda and made their mark in history [Founding Anniversary Special] (released October 21, 2024)
I was surprised to see Einstein standing in front of Statue of Shigenobu Okuma! And it was a strange feeling to think that he had heard the song "Northwest of City." I was reminded of the long and magnificent history of Waseda University. (1st year, School of Humanities and Social Sciences)
I learned about the connections with many great people who have made their mark on Waseda's history. I want to live each day knowing that their existence has shaped who we are today. (4th year, School of Sport Sciences)

3. [My Waseda Cuisine] Avocado, tomato, and kimuchi rice cake!? A unique Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki to enjoy at Waseda (Published October 18, 2024)
Not only can you enjoy the taste of Hiroshima in Waseda, but the variety is so great and you can even customize your own dishes, so I think it's a restaurant you'll want to visit again and again. Being able to watch the food being prepared after you order, and being able to eat it while it's still warm on the iron plate, was very appealing. The image of the crispy Chinese noodles really whetted my appetite. (1st year, School of International Liberal Studies)
Great article! I'll definitely go. I didn't know anything about it, so I'm glad you knew about it. Thank you for letting me know! (2nd year, School of Social Sciences)

4. [Short History of Waseda University] The culture of "Waseda University students" before the war (released October 24, 2024)
I was happy to get a glimpse of the true Waseda spiritual culture. I feel like it has been fading recently, so I would like to think about that as well. (3rd year, School of Law)
When I think about how the Waseda culture of the past is connected to the Waseda culture of today, I realized that in a way it is good to be proud of it. I want to pass this culture on to the next generation. (1st year, School of International Liberal Studies)
5. [Focus] Be careful of these kinds of recruitments! What should you be careful of with part-time jobs that have been attracting attention recently? (Published on October 7, 2024)
Even though it was just part-time work, I learned that in order to protect my rights as a worker, it is important to carefully check the notice of working conditions, consult with the Labor Standards Inspection Office, and take responsibility for understanding even the most troublesome details. I felt relieved when I found out that there was an institution on campus where I could get legal advice. (4th year, School of Commerce)
I have also applied for part-time jobs I had never heard of before, and I never received a reply to my emails, so it was very interesting to consider it from a legal perspective. I hope many people will read it. (2nd year, School of Culture, Media and Society)
