For the Art Research and Creation Society's exhibition, student club member individually drew small panels, gradually combining them into a single artwork.
"Student Reports" are a series of reports from Waseda University students, sharing glimpses of campus life where diverse people gather and learn in various ways, along with their own insights and growth. This time, Kanai, a student staff member of "Waseda Weekly" who came up with the idea, reports on the "Waseda University Student Center Bulletin Board Project," a new initiative launched by "Waseda Weekly" in April 2026, which involves collaboration with student club and student organizations!

The atrium on the second floor of Waseda University Student Center on Toyama Campus is always bustling with activity. Did you know that various student club and organizations hold exhibitions on a bulletin board located in one corner of the atrium?
The "Waseda University Student Center Bulletin Board Project" is a program in which the bulletin board managed by "Waseda Weekly" is lent to student club and organizations for one month, allowing them to freely display their work. In April, it was lent to the Art Research and Creation Society (an officially recognized student club), in May to the Waseda Photo Society (an officially recognized student club), in June to the Waseda University Student Health Promotion Mutual Aid Association (Gakusei Soukenkai), and in July to the Broadcasting Association (an officially recognized student club), and they enlivened the space with a variety of projects and displays, including art, quizzes, and surveys. We plan to continue lending the bulletin board to various student club and student organizations on a monthly basis.

In May, the the Waseda Photo Society held an exhibition. It was a quiz format where visitors answered by placing stickers on a map of Japan to indicate the locations where the photographs were taken. Two sets of questions were displayed during the first and second halves of the exhibition period.
I felt that "Waseda Weekly" should become a more interactive media outlet with students, and this was the driving force behind this project. On the day of Entrance Ceremony, when we handed out flyers and stickers, students were reluctant to accept them, and I keenly felt that simply forcing information on them wouldn't work. Furthermore, with so many publishing student club and social media accounts at Waseda, I thought that in order to get students to become familiar with "Waseda Weekly," there needed to be a concrete benefit for them, such as directly connecting with and using "Waseda Weekly."
That's when we turned our attention to this bulletin board. Previously, we displayed a ranking of the monthly page views (PV) of published articles, but it's boring to always display the same format. So, we thought about lending this bulletin board, which is seen by many students, to student club and organizations, allowing them to freely express the activities they want to promote. In this way, we could use "Waseda Weekly," which boasts the brand name and appeal of being the "official university publication," as a kind of "advertising medium."
The notices are mutually promoted on Waseda Weekly and the organizations' social media accounts, ensuring they reach a wider audience beyond just Waseda University Student Center. For the organizations, this allows them to promote their activities by mutually following each other on social media platforms with large follower counts. On the other hand, Waseda Weekly has the opportunity to gain Waseda student readers who feel a sense of familiarity with them. This plan is a win-win-win situation, providing fresh and engaging content for students passing through Waseda University Student Center.
The the Art Research and Creation Society put a lot more effort into their exhibition than we had imagined, and the number of voting stickers we received confirmed that many students stopped to look at the student-participatory exhibitions by the Waseda Photo Society and the Gakusei Soukenkai. We were pleased to see the positive response from each group. We will continue to reach out to various organizations and add color to a corner of Waseda University Student Center.

In June, the Gakusei Soukenkai held an exhibition. In addition to promoting their 100-yen breakfast at the school cafeteria, they also had a voting project called "Sleep Life Survey." By the end of the exhibition period, so many survey results had been seen that all the stickers had been used up.

In July, the Broadcasting Association held an exhibition. They are currently promoting their event on July 26th!
Furthermore, in order to gather requests for topics that you would like to see featured in "Waseda Weekly," we have displayed posters throughout the campus titled "We will deliver that information to Waseda students." We have also created an information submission form that accepts both self-nominations and nominations from others, and made it accessible anytime via a QR code, allowing students to submit topics they would like to see covered in articles. In this age of information overload, we want "Waseda Weekly" to reach as many Waseda students as possible, so we will continue to create articles with flexible ideas, taking into account the voices of our students, and we will also consider new projects!

Posters requesting information are displayed on bulletin boards in each faculty office.
