[Top 5 selected by reader monitors] 2024 Spring semester (April) -From Readers

Waseda Weekly publishes a variety of articles, including "Focus," which features various systems and facilities on campus, events, and points to note; "People," which introduces students who are active both on and off campus; and articles about classes, Professor, Alumnus and student club who are active in various fields, and even topics ranging from studying abroad to everyday concerns.

We have also introduced a Waseda University student reader monitor system, where articles are evaluated every week. Each article is rated from 1 to 5 stars, and we receive feedback, both good and bad, which we use to create better articles. Here we will introduce the articles published between April 8 and May 2, 2024, in order of highest reader monitor ratings, along with the actual comments received!

1. [My Waseda Cuisine] An onigiri shop that inherits the DNA of "Bongo" appears in Waseda! (Published on April 26, 2024)

I was glad to learn about the rice and seaweed that go into making delicious onigiri at Onigiri-ya Kawashima, as well as the warm atmosphere inside the store. I couldn't really imagine what the "Mentaiko mayonnaise + cream cheese" would taste like, but after hearing that it was refreshing and delicious, I wanted to try it. I'd like to visit the store and find my favorite combination of ingredients (3rd year, School of Humanities and Social Sciences)

Articles like this make me feel the importance of "collaboration with the local community" that Professor Okuma placed so much importance on. Thank you for introducing me to a store that represents the area near Waseda Campus and makes the area more diverse. (3rd year School of Fundamental Science and Engineering)

2. [Special Issue] A dangerous and dangerous Waseda University Professor and a TV producer discuss hyper-hardboiled communication theory (released April 8, 2024)

The message that it is important to be aware that we cannot survive alone and to never forget to respect others really stuck in my mind and made me take a breather. I will try to keep these words in the back of my mind from now on so that I don't become arrogant. (2nd year School of Social Sciences)

The most memorable words were, "Give up on being accepted." I also feel that I am not good at communicating, but I realized that I have to break out of my shell myself (4th year School of Sport Sciences)

3. [Lectures by Experts] What university students should do is learn to have a good rhythm in their daily lives! Thinking about "health" with Professor Miyaji of the Sports Department (Published on April 24, 2024)

I was struck by the suggestion that we should get into the habit of eating breakfast. I often skip breakfast myself, so I want to be careful. (1st year School of International Liberal Studies)

I would like to start with something small. With Plus10, I think I can do it. I could walk to the station, or incorporate 10 minutes of home workouts from YouTube. I could also get protein from soybeans. Natto is cheap, so it won't interfere with my lifestyle. Having a concrete number to aim for when getting six hours of sleep makes it easier. Thank you for planning this article!! (2nd year student School of Social Sciences)

4. [Focus] Don't give up on studying abroad because of money! Get Scholarship for international students and head to your dream university abroad (Published on April 29, 2024)

I was surprised to learn that 40% of students study abroad using Scholarship (3rd year School of Law)

I myself am also considering studying abroad, so this was a very familiar topic and very helpful. It was great to hear not only the specific details of Scholarship, but also the overall story of studying abroad, such as how I have grown as a result of my experience (1st year School of International Liberal Studies)

5. [People] The third-highest-ranked student runner of all time! A unique Waseda University student runner from a marathon student club, aiming for a corporate team for four years (released April 23, 2024)

When I found out that he had been in the track and field club since he was in the second year of junior high school, I felt that he had a dream. I was reminded that in order to be ranked highly in something, it is not necessarily the experience you have from childhood. (4th year student, School of Commerce)

I was surprised to find such a runner among my senior students in School of Law. School of Law is a relatively busy academic environment, but I think it's wonderful that he was able to continue doing what he loves in student club and achieve such results. (2nd year student School of Law)
