The people who gather at Waseda are surprisingly diverse. Their goals, what they value, and the paths they choose to get there are all different. Yet, there is undeniably something called Waseda culture in this place.
What they all have in common isn't the same values or the same goals. It's simply their individual passion. People who believe in different things and aim for different places can be passionate in their own ways. The convergence of these endeavors has shaped Waseda culture.
The countless genuine efforts that usually exist in various places all come together and take shape once a year at WASEDASAI. There, Waseda culture gathers in one place and opens up to the outside world.
Culture leaves the hands of its creators and begins to take on new meaning in connection with those who receive it. Encountering someone's genuine passion brings a previously unknown world a little closer. A small force is born to move forward to tomorrow. The passion within one person is passed on to another, igniting a new fire in their heart. "WASEDASAI 2026" calls that fire a "lamplight."
The fate of the flame is not determined solely by the sender. What moves their hearts, and what do they take away? The rest is left to each individual.
I myself am still searching for the answer to the question, "What is Waseda culture?" That's why I want to see it over these two days: the form of Waseda culture that emerges when countless genuine passions gather in one place; and where that light, born there, goes from person to person.
The one who will create the continuation of that story is none other than "you".
I offer this light to "you".
We look forward to your visit.
