なぜSSLとして応募したか Why I applied to be an SSL
国際教養学部に入学してから授業内外で様々なバックグラウンドを持つ学生と関わるうちに、ダイバーシティ溢れる早稲田大学内の異文化交流と常に関わることのできる環境に自分の身を置きたいと考えるようになりました。そんな時にICC主催のイベントを通して改めてICCの活動を知り、自身の留学経験などを活かしつつSSLの一員となり交流の活発化に貢献したいと思い、応募しました。
It goes back to my first year at Waseda.
My desire to put myself in an environment where I could constantly be involved in intercultural exchange matters within Waseda University soared as I entered SILS, one of the most diverse schools. That was when I learned about ICC through an ICC-sponsored event. ICC’s policy matched my beliefs and desire to contribute to the promotion of intercultural exchange, and so I applied for this role.
SSLとして働くことへのやりがい Why I like being an SSL
SSLの活動やイベントを通して、多様な文化や価値観に触れることができるだけでなく、多くの学生の手助けができることをとても嬉しく思います。参加してよかった、と言ってもらえるようなイベントを多様なSSLメンバーと共に企画・運営していくことが一番のやりがいとなると感じています。
Supporting students as well as offering them many opportunities to learn about diverse cultures and values through this job are some of the reasons I love being an SSL. I find it most rewarding when I receive positive feedback from the participants and see everyone’s smiles through the event. Working with diverse SSL members in a challenging yet supportive environment allows me to grow, which is another reason I love this job.
多様性・異文化理解について一言 About diversity and cultural exchange
多様性・異文化理解とは、１人１人の中の「当たり前」が違うことを心掛け、互いの違いを尊重し、言語化を通して互いに歩み寄ることだと思います。また、何よりもそれを楽しむことがキーだと思います！
I believe that diversity and intercultural understanding means keeping in mind that the “norm” in each person is different, respecting any differences, and accepting others through verbalization process.
Above all, the key is to have fun in the process!
