Teach young people about the world ICC Outreach Program @ Waseda University Junior High School (2022/6)

I’m interested in telling people about my culture! 
I’m thinking of teaching after graduation! 
I want to try a volunteer activity! 
I want to make new Japanese & International friends!
I like kids!

If any of these sounds like you, then sign up for the ICC Outreach Program! 

The ICC Outreach Program pairs local (raised and educated in Japan) and international students to work together to plan and give a lesson to promote intercultural understanding at Japanese schools. 

Details of the program will be explained at the ICC orientation. Afterward, you and your partner will work together to prepare the lesson plan and materials. 

School: Waseda University Junior High School

*Apply for one day or two, priority given to applicants for both days 

Date 1: June 9th (Thu) 12:40 – 3:30pm

Class: 3rd-year junior high school students (two 50-min lessons + 10-min break)
Wanted: 4 International students & 4 Local students

Date 2: June 23rd (Thu) 12:40 – 3:30pm

Class: 2nd-year junior high school students (two 50-min lessons + 10-min break)
Wanted: 4 International students & 4 Local students

Place

Meet at Kamishakujii Station (Seibu Shinjuku Line) at 12:40

Finish at the school (Nerima-ku, Tokyo) at 3:30

Content

Together with your partner, create a lesson to introduce the international student’s country and culture then present it at the school

Eligibility

Waseda Students who are able to participate in all the meetings and the school visit and perform required duties

*Participation is required at all preparation meetings

*Participants will also meet several times with their partner to plan, prepare and practice the lesson. You can do this online via Zoom, LINE, etc.  

Transportation Cost

Train fare to/from Waseda reimbursed by the school

Selection

Participants will be chosen based on reasons for applying and requests from the host school

Participant responsibility

Although this is a volunteer program, participants are expected to teach a class at a scheduled time and place, so dropping out of the program or being late is not acceptable.

Covid-19 Precautions

This program could be affected by the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19). In case of cancellation or change, ICC will notify participants as soon as possible. 

Applicants are required to read and accept our  Covid-19 Policies.

Participants must take a Covid-19 Antigen test at home in the morning before visiting the school. ICC will provide a test kit to pick up at the Lounge.
