I want to do something good for the environment, but I don’t really know where to start.
I want to do some volunteering but I can’t get moving on it.
Have you ever had some thoughts like the above?
This year there have been several natural disasters in succession in various regions and this has led to volunteer activities being increasingly reported in the media.
Many think volunteering can only happen in remote far-off locations and in a large scale but it actually can be conducted closer to home with just a few friends,
like picking up trash from the beach or supporting neighbourhood garden programs.
The obstacles to participating in volunteer activities in Japan can be especially high for international students because of the language barrier.
Now at the ICC, we are holding a volunteering event allowing not just Japanese students but also international students to easily take part,
think about volunteer and issues like the climate crisis and have fun mixing together.
At this event, the authorized NPO “Hand’s On Tokyo” which is an organization that is trying to create an volunteer information hub with the cooperation of Japanese and people from other countries will introduce nearby volunteer projects you can participate in.
After that, the official Waseda circle “Environment Rodorigues” which seeks to give a varied and student centered approach to solving the climate crisis will be holding an eco-candle making workshop.
During the mixing time it will be a great chance to talk with the other participants and exchange stories of volunteering activities in your own countries. Let’s think about solving the climate crisis while making eco-candles together.
We’ll be waiting for your application!
