ICC Museum Tour – Feel Japanese history at the Tokyo National Museum (2019)

ポスター

The world leading metropolis, Tokyo.
It may be hard to imagine from the tumult of downtown with high rise buildings stretching into the sky, but Tokyo also boasts almost 400 years of history as a center of Japanese culture.

On this field trip we will be visiting one of Tokyo’s many museums and art galleries that cover a variety of genres; the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno. This museum, the first large scale museum in Japan, hosts a variety of exhibitions of history and art from not just Japan but all over Asia and it also holds Japanese national treasures and important cultural artifacts.

In this program you will receive a special lecture about “The Dawn of Japanese Art” exclusive to the Tokyo National Museum, and after that we will divide you into groups where you can view and experience history using all 5 senses. You can enjoy viewing and learning about Japanese art together with other participants from a variety of backgrounds.

After the event, how about going for a stroll with your new friends around Ueno Park?
There are also a lot of other places to go in Ueno, such as the National Museum of Western Art, the National Science Museum and of course Ueno Zoo. From the Edo Period’s Kan’ei-ji Temple to Ameyoko’s downtown backstreet atmosphere, Ueno is a place where you can experience many different parts of Japanese culture.

So if you want to deepen your knowledge of art, get a taste of the beauty of Japan or just want to make some new friends, sign-up today!
