The Nihon Keizai Shimbun-sponsored Nikkei Smart City Consortium 2014 held its 2nd Nikkei Smart City Symposium on October 10 at Waseda University’s Osumi Lecture Hall, and it was well attended. The overall theme was “Technology research towards implementing a smart society and creating a sustainable business model – implementing that society in view of links between Waseda University research platforms and businesses.”
ACROSS Director Hayashi gave a keynote speech entitled, “Energy management and the role of ICT technology in achieving a smart society – innovation from links with industry that are beginning to work.” There was also a tour of the EMS Shinjuku Testing Center, and they introduced a variety of Waseda University initiatives.
