Takahata Lab

Welcome to Takahata Laboratory!

Li, Deji Doctoral course 1st year and Ninomiya, Toshinori 4th-year undergraduate

Takahata laboratory is majoring in the opto-electronic integrated system. We focus on designing and analyzing advanced optical devices and opto-electronic integrated circuit for high-speed optical communication systems and high-performance optical computing systems.

The traffic on the internet has been increased rapidly in recent years. To handle such a large amount of data traffic, the photonic integrated circuit has drawn the attention of researchers to replace the conventional electronic integrated circuit. Our research subject includes the high-speed optical modulator, optical interconnection system, optical neural networks, optical logic gates, etc.

Newcomers in our laboratory will have sufficient time to get basic knowledge for their own research through courses and seminars in the laboratory. The seminar will be held periodically to get in touch with the cutting-edge technology by sharing the latest paper. After that, each student will focus on some specific research target under the guidance of our professor. In our lab, we have some high-performance workstations with optical and electrical simulation tools installed to support our research. Meanwhile, we also have opportunities to submit research results to international conferences and academic journals. Professor Takahata is a kind supervisor and he always give us advice not only on our research but also presentation skills. If anyone in our lab has trouble in the research, they can always get some help from our professor.

In addition to the research, we sometime held parties together, ate hotpot, had barbecues on the beach, etc. In our daily life, we have discussions and solve problems together and become close friends like a big family. Almost all the graduates have received a satisfactory job offer and pleasant memories in IPS Waseda University.

If you are interested in opto-electronic integrated systems, don’t hesitate to choose our lab, hope to see you in our laboratory!
