We are Industrial Informatics and systems Laboratory, researching methodologies and technologies of engineering for intelligent, flexible, agile, and dependable manufacturing systems. Those topics are related to “Industrial Informatics” which is the interdisciplinary study of theory and techniques between information and manufacturing systems to cope with complexity in planning and control of modern advanced production systems.
Mainly four fields / areas in Murata Lab.
- Production planning management system (MPC: Manufacturing Planning & Control)
Ex. MRP, ERP, Scheduling, etc. - Supply Chain Management (SCM)
Ex. Logistics planning - Product information management (PIM)
Ex. Product Life Cycle Workflow - Business intelligence (BI)
Ex. Recommendation Marketing Forecasting
About seminar and research activities

In Murata Lab, we have a seminar each week. Lab Students would like to have a presentation for “book reading” or “paper survey” or “research topic”, which are related to respective interesting topic from Lab’s research fields. All students have chances to provide questions and comments for the presentation. Also, Professor Murata will provide his advice or comments for each presentation and discussing the question or problem in the presentation. Some new knowledge related will teach and express by Professor. To help each student to solve the problems in their research.
In this process, students could learn the necessary knowledge, research approach, critical thinking and so on.
Beside of seminars, Professor Murata will interview senior students regularly, to help them solve the lots of problems in their research.
About lab life

Murata Lab. is a global laboratory. Currently, we have gathered students from more than seven countries, including Egypt, Thailand, Russia and China. Students use English or Japanese for communication. Beside of exchange idea of research, we also have Cross-cultural communication. There are many events in the lab, such as ‘Hanami’ cherry blossom viewing, welcoming party, short trip and so on. This is good for to understand Japes culture and know each well. In addition, we always could get very helpful suggestion and support from Professor Murata when we have some confusion or troubles even they are not related to research.
