Ikenaga Lab

Enjoy the world of research

CHENG Xina, 2nd degree on Doctoral program

Ikenaga laboratory mainly focuses on image and video information systems. In our lab, currently, there are two research groups: the sport analysis group and the real-time vision system group.

As a collaboration with Japan Volleyball association, Sports Science Department and related companies, the goal of the sports analysis group is providing high-accurate and real-time game-data acquisition from video camera automatically in order to support the TV content broadcasting and national team training in 2020 Olympic Games. Therefore, topics in sports analysis group include objects tracking, action recognition and GPU acceleration technologies. On the other hand, aiming at a better experience in human-machine interactive applications, the goal of the real-time vision system group is to design the FPGA-based ultra-low delay vision systems, which include the tracking,  local feature based matching, and so on.

Currently, there are three Ph. D students and 16 Master students in our laboratory. Regular weekly seminar and joint seminar are held once each week for students presenting their research progress. Besides, each group also arranges group meeting for study and discussion of research problems. Through the daily discussions, all the students in our lab make progress together on both research and communication skill.

Apart from research, there are also some activities in our lab such as new year party, welcome party and seminar tour held every year. Last year, to farewell graduated students, we arranged laboratory tour in Yamaguchi. During the tour, we enjoyed not only the beautiful scenery and also learned Japanese culture and delicious food.

Ikenaga laboratory will provide you an active and enjoyable study atmosphere. In here you will not only make progress of the research ability but also gain friendship. If you have interests in image and video information systems, please join Ikenaga laboratory.
