Laboratory Introduction

Kimura Lab focuses on developing efficient and reliable computing systems under the supervision of Professor Kimura. Our research explores Approximate Computing, Acceleration of Applications and Logic Synthesis &Verification.
We aim to improve computational performance while maintaining good accuracy and power efficiency. Each student is encouraged to freely explore topics that match their own interests. The laboratory provides full support and resources, helping every member grow independently and make meaningful contributions in their chosen field.

Research Guidance

Research Life

Professor Kimura has extensive experience in a variety of research topics, and his guidance is a central part of our academic life. We hold seminars twice a week, where each student presents their research progress and discusses current challenges. During these sessions, Professor Kimura provides insightful feedback and advice tailored to each student’s topic, helping them refine their research direction. Students are also encouraged to ask questions, exchange opinions, and learn from one another, creating an open and interactive academic environment.

In addition, Kimura Laboratory offers a well-equipped environment for research. Students have access to a wide range of tools and devices, including CAD softwares, high-performance servers, and FPGA development boards. These resources allow every member to fully explore their field of interest, from algorithm design to hardware implementation, and to turn creative ideas into tangible results.

Lab Atmosphere & Activities

Beyond our daily research work, Kimura Laboratory is also a warm and supportive community. Members often interact not only through academic discussions but also through casual and fun activities. We frequently organize group dinners, parties and sports events. These activities create a relaxed and friendly environment where students from different backgrounds can connect easily.
The lab’s open communication and sense of friendship make it easy for new members to adapt and feel included. We believe that strong teamwork and friendship naturally lead to better collaboration and more enjoyable research life.
If you are interested in the research topics of Kimura Laboratory, we warmly welcome you to consider joining us and be part of our team.
