Welcome to Ikehashi Laboratory!
WU,Jun 3rd Year,Doctoral program
~Research Topics~
In Ikehashi Lab, research on MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) is carried out. MEMS is a combined system of electronics and mechanics enabled by microfabrication technology. Typical examples of MEMS devices are accelerometers, gyros and pressure sensors embedded in smartphones. In Ikehashi-lab, students are researching on next generation MEMS, covering all stages from design side to application side. You will have the opportunity to enter the cleanroom to fabricate MEMS of your own design, and you will also have the opportunity to enter cooperation projects with some companies.
Some of the research themes studied at the lab are:
- Physical sensors, such as seismometer, gravimeter, pressure sensor, etc.
- Actuator-based MEMS, such as charge pump, energy harvesters, etc.
- Application systems of the above MEMS.
~Laboratory Activities~
In Ikehashi Lab, new members can learn the basics of MEMS through courses and lab meetings. Lab meetings for each semester are held every Thursday afternoon. In the lab meeting, Professor Ikehashi will inform you of some messages and information from IPS or our lab at first. Then a senior student of our lab will do a formal presentation on his/her research project to all other lab members. This is a great opportunity to discuss, network and practice your presentation skills with each other. Weekly 1-by-1 lab seminars with Professor Ikehashi are another required meeting for senior students. In this workshop, we focus on discussing our project progress and the problems. Through this seminar, we can efficiently advance our research according to the designated stage goals.
Ikehashi-lab was established in 2019. It has now become a large family with 3 doctoral students and 17 master’s students. Professor Ikehashi is a respected mentor with rich engineering and research experience in the field of MEMS, and is also an amiable elder in life. You can get kind instruction and help from Professor Ikehashi if you encounter any problems in study or life. Seniors will also kindly help you solve problems in study or life. In the student room, we not only study hard or struggle with our research, but also share the journey of life and create beautiful memories. In daily life, we often travel together, find and eat delicious food, play games and sports, such as badminton, and so on.
If you are interested in MEMS or sensors, welcome to a part of Ikehashi Lab! Let’s enjoy the colorful scientific research life together!
