ZHAO QIANXI 2nd Year, Master’s Program

– Research Focus –
In the Kameoka Lab, we primarily conduct in-depth research on the invention and
production of biosensor-related devices. Biosensors are analytical devices composed of a
sensing element and a signal transducer. If you are interested, please consider joining us.
Here are some examples of our research themes:
1. SS-based Micro-needle Detector for Uric Acid Testing
2. SS-based Micro-needle Detector for pH Testing
3. Development of a Wearable Colorimetric Sensor for Non-Invasive Monitoring of
Glucose and pH Levels in Sweat
– Lab Activities –
In the lab, we primarily learn about the preparation of biosensors. Group meetings are
held twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and you can bring the materials
you prepared for the experiments or join online. One of the two group meetings is for the
JOURNAL CLUB, where students share the content of the papers they read that week. The
other is for progress presentations, where students already working on projects report on
what they have done that week. Freshmen do not need to attend the second meeting.
Additionally, there are regular interviews with the professor, where you can discuss
research and life-related matters. The professor is a kind person.

The main task for first-year students is to follow up on paper reading while taking basic
courses, and the weekly paper seminar is crucial. After the first semester, it’s time to
gradually determine your desired direction and start learning about it. During this
process, teachers will assist you as much as possible, so even students who know nothing
about this field should not be too afraid. If you are interested, please believe in yourself
and join us!
In addition to daily studies, we often have alumni gatherings, go out together, have
meals, sing songs, and more. If you are interested in our lab, please feel free to join us!
