Koyanagi Lab 〜 Research on building better intelligent networks

Koyanagi Laboratory researches network advanced technology for application in today’s ubiquitous age of universal connectivity. We focus mainly on next-generation network technology utilizing cloud computing, peer-to-peer computing, grid computing, and other distributed computing technology for developing new ideas for intelligent networks. We aim to build intelligent network environments more secure, safe, and user-friendly.

The laboratory holds a seminar every Tuesday. The students meet at the lab and then go together to the seminar room, which features state-of-the-art presentation equipment in a quiet and tranquil setting. Seminars move at a steady pace in a casual atmosphere. At a seminar, students enjoy the outstanding research documentation and progress reports of their peers, share their ideas and comments, and gradually absorb new knowledge. Students decide on a research topic that interests them and do research at their own pace.

Every year, Professor Koyanagi leads classes on such topics as “telecommunications networks” and “distributed systems”. The professor thoroughly prepares in advance of each class. Moreover, at the start of each class, the professor tests students on a problem from the previous class as a way for them to review what they have learned. Classroom instruction presents detailed descriptions of the latest developments in network technology based on the many achievements of energetic research. Professor Koyanagi’s passion inspires not only Koyanagi Laboratory members but all students who attend.

Besides research, the laboratory holds a number of events that strengthen the bonds among its members, including an annual new student reception, social gatherings, an end-of-year party, and a farewell party. Students make the arrangements, which Professor Koyanagi leaves to his students. This is the ideal laboratory for motivated students. If you are interested in what we are doing, by all means come by for a visit.
