講演では、江戸後期に衰退に向かっていた足尾銅山が明治期に再興される過程について、当時における技術革新、古河市兵衛の事業経営、飯場を通じた労務管理との関連を踏まえて考察するとともに、公害の実態について指摘した。会場フロアならびにオンライン参加者を含めた活発な質疑応答が行われた。
