テーマ:Japanese Election Campaigns and Political Spouses (日本の選挙キャ ンペーンと政治家の配偶者)
要旨:
This study exams the contributions of the spouse, coined the “spousal
effect,”in election campaigns in Japan. The research reveals the complex
participatory “utility” of the spouse based on geographic region,
generation/age, sex, political party membership, voter expectations, tenure
in office and the level of elected office. Ultimately, the study shows that
there are a number of stages, or levels at which the spouse participates in
the election campaign.
Moreover, the study credits the spouse as a valuable political asset in the
election campaigns in a manner similar to other members of an election
campaign team.
