Academic Advising

Academic Advising is an initiative designed to promote students’ proactive and self-directed learning and to support them in becoming independent learners.
Through this initiative, studetns are expected to develop the ability to set their own goals, create study plans to achieve them, and obtain the information necessary to carry out those plans by themselves.
Academic Advisors in SPSE serve as partners in students’ growth and support and support their proactive and self-directed learning through a variety of programs and services.

Academic Advisors in SPSE offer a variety of programs and services throughout the year.

Group Session
Group sessions are held on a wide range of topics related to learning and student life.
Unlike conventional information sessions, these group sessions are interactive learning opportunities that emphasize two-way communication between students and Academic Advisors.
They provide students with opportunities to seek out information by themselves, think independently, and grow through the interactive communication.

-Scholaship applications

Individual Consulation
Unlike traditional individual consultations, which tend to be administrative and primarily based on a question-and-answer format, these individual consultations employ  an open-question approach that allows students to  work together with Academic Advisors to explore ways of addressing their concerns.
Academic Advisors can provide support at any stage of the consultation process. For example, they can help students identify and articulate the underlying causes of their concerns that may seem vague.
Students are welcome to discuss a wide range of matters related to student life. Even when a matter falls outside the scope of services provided by the SPSE Office, Academic Advisors can support students by helping them identify the most appropriate point of contact.
