Humanity’s future is filled with uncertainty. On the precipice of great change, relying on history alone may be insufficient to guide us. Instead, I implore us all to adopt an active mindset: empowering us to employ existing resources in new ways, and granting us the flexibility to adapt when resources disappear. It is my hope that we can collectively engage this active mindset here at Waseda University through our diverse faculty and student body. While not outright rejecting traditions, I ask each student to question them, alongside other curious and inquisitive minds. Find your personal truths, and be equipped with the tools to actualize them, so you may dance nimbly on the world stage.
