- Study Plan:Language & Communication
My major was Japanese when I was an undergraduate student, and went to Japan as an exchange student in my junior year. I planned to go to Canada for improving English proficiency and further study after graduation. Just at that time, I found the English program from GSICCS of Waseda University which provides an international communication studies curriculum from a variety of perspective. Here I study in Professor Kondo’s seminar because I am very interested in the field of language acquisition.
Professor Kondo’s seminar mainly focuses on researches about phonetics, especially on the second-language acquisition. There are many joint study meetings with other graduate schools which are helpful for my research. I decided study on Japanese accent learning as my research theme, especially focus on the Chinese learners. It was difficult to collect and analysis the data, but with the help of Professor Kondo and other classmates, I finished my graduation thesis.
In GSSICS, I obtained not only the English proficiency and specialized knowledge, but also the ability of independent thinking and problem solving. I started job hunting during my first year, and got some offers from different industries. In the end I decided go to the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, which I think it would be better for my future. The experience from GSICCS will be definitely helpful in the future.
